VoteVerse ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your rights regarding your data.

By using VoteVerse, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the App.

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of VoteVerse, regardless of how you access or use the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE DIRECTLY:

• Email address (for account creation and authentication)
• Display name (publicly visible to other users)
• Password (encrypted via Firebase Authentication — we never store plaintext passwords)
• User-generated vote content (custom vote questions you create)
• Friend connections (users you add as friends)

INFORMATION COLLECTED AUTOMATICALLY:

• Voting activity (which options you vote for, when you vote)
• Prediction data (your predictions and their outcomes)
• Game statistics (streaks, points, gems, leaderboard position)
• In-app purchase history (what you purchased, not payment details)
• Push notification token (for delivering notifications to your device)
• App usage data (session timestamps, feature interactions)
• Device type and operating system version

INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT:

• Your real name (unless you choose it as your display name)
• Your precise or approximate location
• Your full contacts or address book — the "Find Friends" feature extracts only email addresses from your contacts and checks them against our user database. No contact names, phone numbers, or other data are transmitted. Email addresses are used solely for matching and are not stored on our servers.
• Your payment information (handled entirely by Apple)
• Photos, camera, or microphone data
• Browsing history or data from other apps
• Biometric data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

• To create and maintain your account
• To provide the core VoteVerse experience (voting, predictions, streaks, leaderboards)
• To display your profile, display name, and stats to other users
• To enable friend connections and multiplayer friend games
• To process and track in-app purchases and virtual currency (gems)
• To send push notifications about game activity, friend requests, streak reminders, and other app-related events
• To moderate user-generated content for safety and compliance
• To detect and prevent fraud, cheating, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use
• To maintain, improve, and optimize the App's performance and features
• To enforce our Terms of Use
• To respond to your requests or inquiries
• To comply with legal obligations

We do NOT use your information for:

• Selling to third parties
• Targeted advertising based on personal data (ads shown are not personalized)
• Profiling for purposes unrelated to the App

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Data is stored on servers located in the United States.

We implement the following security measures to protect your data:

• All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Passwords are hashed and salted (via Firebase Authentication) — we never store plaintext passwords
• Firestore Security Rules restrict data access on a per-user basis
• Cloud Functions validate all scoring, purchases, and sensitive operations server-side
• Rate limiting on authentication attempts to prevent brute-force attacks
• Automated content moderation on user-generated content
• Regular review of security practices

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We share your information with the following third-party services, solely for the purposes described:

• OpenAI: Automated content moderation for user-created vote questions. Only the text content of your votes is sent — no personal identifiers. OpenAI's privacy policy: https://openai.com/privacy

WE DO NOT:

• Sell your personal data to any third party
• Share your personal data for third-party marketing purposes
• Share your data with data brokers
• Use your data for cross-app tracking

We may also disclose your information if required by law, legal process, government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of VoteVerse, our users, or others.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

VoteVerse is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 16. Certain features of the App may contain mature content intended for adult audiences.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 16 has provided personal information to VoteVerse, please contact us immediately at liamsapps.suport@gmail.com. We will take steps to delete such information as quickly as possible.

If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a user under 16, we will delete that information promptly.

Users between the ages of 16 and 17 should use the App only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access: View your personal data in your profile at any time
• Right to Correction: Update your display name through the App
• Right to Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings & Legal > Delete Account
• Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your data by contacting us
• Right to Opt Out: Disable push notifications via iOS Settings; disable specific notification categories in-app
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Stop using the App and delete your account at any time
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights

CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS (CCPA/CPRA):

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. EU/EEA RESIDENTS (GDPR):

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (by using the App) and our legitimate interests in providing and improving the service.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you with the App's services.

Upon account deletion:

• Your profile, display name, and email are permanently deleted
• Your voting history, predictions, and game stats are permanently deleted
• Your friend connections are removed
• Your gems and in-app purchase entitlements are forfeited (no refunds)
• Aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., total vote counts on rounds) may be retained as it is no longer personally identifiable

We may also retain certain data as required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Use, or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

Inactive accounts may be subject to deletion after an extended period of inactivity, with prior notice sent to the registered email address.

9. Subscriptions & Purchase Data

If you subscribe to VoteVerse VIP or make in-app purchases, the following applies:

• All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card, billing address, etc.).
• We receive and store: your subscription status (active/expired), purchase history (product IDs), and transaction identifiers for verification purposes.
• VIP subscriptions auto-renew weekly at the current price until canceled. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings at any time.
• Subscription status is synced to our servers to unlock premium features (ad removal, friend games, weekly gem rewards).

10. Push Notifications

VoteVerse uses local and/or push notifications to inform you about:

• Voting results and round activity
• Friend requests and friend game invitations
• Streak expiry warnings
• Daily reminders and engagement notifications
• Leaderboard updates

You can control notifications through:

• iOS Settings > VoteVerse > Notifications (system-level control)
• In-app notification preferences (category-level control)

Disabling notifications will not affect your ability to use the App, but you may miss time-sensitive information such as streak expiry warnings.

11. Cookies & Tracking

VoteVerse does not use cookies (it is a native iOS app, not a website). We do not use fingerprinting techniques to track you across other apps or websites.

Google AdMob, our advertising partner, may collect device identifiers and ad interaction data to serve ads. AdMob does not use the Apple IDFA without your consent (as controlled by iOS App Tracking Transparency). You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Firebase may collect certain analytics data as part of its standard service. You can learn more about Firebase's data practices at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

12. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored and processed in the United States via Google Firebase. If you are located outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

By using VoteVerse, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States. We rely on standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, and other appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law to ensure your data is protected during international transfers.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

We will notify you of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Displaying an in-app notice (for significant changes)

Your continued use of VoteVerse after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
